It’s perhaps too easy for musician’s to fall into the trap of overcomplicating their music; this is something that Maggie Rogers appears to understand upon intuition. With no need to unnecessarily crowd instruments together, there’s an irresistible simplicity to her music.
Listeners of Angel Olsen and The Colorist might want to investigate further; Roger’s new single music has a modesty that’s instantly both heartwarming and comfortable. Don’t get too cosy though, just when you think you’ve settled into a rythm of looped keyboards and a gentle beat, in Rogers throws some honeyed guitar melodies to keep you earnest.
